“La segunda fase de la operación (recogiendo a los rehenes en un lugar secreto) no se puede hacer hoy”, dijo Barbara Hintermann del Comité Internacional de la Cruz Roja. “El ICCR no lleva a cabo operaciones de la noche por razones de seguridad”, dijo en una conferencia de prensa en Bogotá. Presidente venezolano Hugo Chávez había dicho el primer jefe de los helicópteros de rescate a Colombia el viernes alrededor de las 3:00 pm (1930 GMT) para comenzar la operación.
